BIOGRAPHY: Blacksmith (Grofsmid)on 13 december 1811 he took the name: Smedema, meaning son or family from a blacksmith.
He died in house no.: 40 Morra. On3 and 4 febrary 1797 he took part in the famous so called 'Kollumer oproer'. This was to free and help some people who were arrested for being 'prinsgezind' (loving or respecting the old prins and not too much the Republic). Lots of people did not want to take part in the 'army' of the Republic of that time. One or two years later the Republic was taken down and a 'prins' took control. Johannes Wessels took a small part of this and was arrested and had to pay 11 Carolusguldens, 4 stuivers and 14 penningen. A lot of money in these days. He was a bit of a freedomfighter. A few people who had misbehaved were arrested and hanged/killed. See also http://family.smedema.com

Johannes married Lutske Geerts LUDEMA, daughter of Geert Lullofs LUDEMA and Jelkjen Egberts UNKNOWN, on 24 May 1801 in Morra. Lutske was born 1774 in Westergeest, Netherlands. She died 19 May 1840 in Morra, Netherlands.

In 1811 called Ludema. She died in Morra house no.: 7
